The University of Adelaide has in place credit transfer and course articulation agreements in a number of discipline areas.  Students who have completed a designated TAFE course for which an articulation agreement exists are granted an agreed level of advance standing upon application.

It should be noted that eligibility for credit does not guarantee admission to the University of Adelaide.

More information about the application and admission process is available from Student Admissions TAFE Applicants website. The University’s current Admissions Policy outlines the principles and procedures regarding TAFE minimum requirements when applying for a University program. A TAFE Credit Transfer Directory is also available, outlining the arrangements between the University and TAFE.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Memorandum of understanding have been negotiated between the University and TAFE in order to strengthen and broaden strategic arrangements to benefit each institution’s programs, whilst respecting each other’s missions.  The current MoU (pdf 385kB) sets out to further develop and expand the framework of cooperation.

The MoU covers cooperative activities which include: admission processes, articulation, credit transfer and recognition of prior learning (RPL), collaborative curriculum development, resource sharing, professional development, research, marketing and information exchange. The arrangements are based on Australian Vice-Chancellors’ Committee (AVCC) principles and include the establishment of a management group.

Staff at the University of Adelaide are encouraged to consider collaborative activities with TAFE wherever appropriate, aiming to provide flexible pathways through various entry and exit points.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Implementation

On 10 October 2007 the TAFE MOU Management Committee approved the jointly developed Implementation Plan (pdf 78kB), which contains objectives, actions and KPIs. The current MOU between the University of Adelaide and DFEEST (TAFE) forms the framework for any new collaborative arrangements.

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President (Academic) is ensuring that any binding agreements between the two institutions have separate contractual negotiations, including terms relating to ownership and the use of intellectual property, financial arrangements, use of resources and any other issues as relevant. If you would like assistance with TAFE agreements or more information, please contact the TAFE Articulation Coordinator Natalie Kourtidis.

Staff Guidelines

The Staff Guidelines have been prepared to provide staff from each institution seeking to enter into collaborative arrangements with an overview of the processes to support the aims of the MOU.

If you have any queries concerning the guidelines or the terms of the MOU, contact the TAFE Articulation Coordinator, Natalie Kourtidis.

TAFE SA Articulation Report

In 2006, the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic) undertook a project aimed at maximising articulation arrangements between the university and the TAFE sector. One of the outcomes of this project was the TAFE Articulation Report (pdf 122kB) which examines articulation, credit transfer and skills recognition arrangements between TAFE and the University of Adelaide and makes recommendations relating to these. A plan has been developed to ensure that the recommendations aimed at improving credit transfer and articulation arrangements are implemented.
