Researcher Education & Development ... for Staff

The Researcher Education & Development (RED) unit works with the research community at all levels - HDR candidates, supervisors, early career researchers, research leaders, postgraduate coordinators, and so on - value adding to the research experience, and delivering skills and knowledge essential to research success.

The RED unit provides a range of face-to-face workshop programs, online modules, individual consultations and resource materials.  To give this work a sound theoretical and pedagogical platform, RED staff research international best practice in the field, and publish in a broad range of areas concerned with (higher) education, language and culture.

RED Staff programs include the following. Please follow the links to find out more:

The Effective Supervision Program aims to equip supervisors with vital understandings of the policies, practices and scholarship essential to effective supervision of research higher degree students.

The Future Research Leaders Program has been developed collaboratively by the Go8 universities, and seeks to build a range of skills and understandings essential for successful research leadership and research project management.

Each semester we provide a Postgraduate Coordinators Forum, affording an opportunity for PGCs across the University to share their experiences and to meet with the Dean of Graduate Studies and AGC and RED staff. Updates on strategic directions, policy, procedure, resources etc are provided at these meetings. Watch this space for an announcement on the forum date for 2nd semester 2008.

We are happy to talk to you about constructing a researcher education session, workshop or intensive program for your particular discipline, School or other specialist area. Please contact us to discuss any possibilities that you have in mind.
