First commercial-grade optical fibres fabricated in space

Special glass rods manufactured at the University of Adelaide have been drawn into over 8 km of optical fibre on the International Space Station (ISS).

Ultra-precise quantum thermometer to measure the temperatures of space and time

An international team of scientists including experts from the University of Adelaide has designed a quantum thermometer to measure the ultra-cold temperatures of space and time predicted by Einstein and the laws of quantum mechanics.

Partnership focuses on cutting-edge glass technology

Glass developed by IPAS for the image chamber of Coretec’s CSpace 3D volumetric display.

The University of Adelaide’s Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS) has partnered with The Coretec Group, Inc. to develop a glass to be used in the US company’s CSpace, a 3D static volumetric display technology.  This project will be jointly funded by the University of Adelaide.

Biomedical engineer awarded for revolutionary imaging technology

Dr Jiawen Li has been awarded two prestigious fellowships in recognition of her world-class work in the field of biomedical engineering. Dr Li is a Lecturer in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at the University of Adelaide, leading the intravascular imaging research program within the Institute of Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS).
