The Research Institute for Climate Change and Sustainability is hosting the Climate2030 seminar series to explore the likely impacts of climate change.
The seminars address a range of issues relating to the mitigation of carbon emissions and adaptive strategies to respond to the anticipated impacts of climate change

  1. Climate Change – Past, Present and Future
    Professor Bob Hill led this session investigating the wide ranging implications of climate change.
  2. A Carbon-Constrained Future
    This session, convened by Prof Nick Harvey, will provide an overview of the findings of the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and present developments shaping a carbon-constrained future..
  3. Population and Environment
    This session will cover population trends and vulnerability within the context of Australia's population policies.
  4. Clean Energy Technologies
    Professor Nathan will provide an overview of energy research taking place at the University of Adelaide. Presentations will address the latest developments in wind, geothermal, biofuels, solar and clean coal technologies.
  5. The Built Environment
    Associate Professor Soebarto will convene a session which will consider the role of ethics, regulations and research in achieving sustainable design in the build environment. The design of the new 6-star engineering building on campus will be cited as an example.
  6. Water
    Associate Professor Justin Brookes will head this session about managing water resources under climate change.
  7. Public Health
    Dr Peng Bi will provide an overview of research currently taking place to explore the likely nature of these impacts.
  8. Food, Wine and Agriculture
    This session, convened by Professor Randy Stringer, will provide an overview of the anticipated impacts of climate change for these agricultural sectors and explore adaptive strategies.
  9. Conservation Sector
    Professor Andy Lowe will head this session whcih will provide an historical context for the impacts of climate change on natural systems, explore changes at a species and community level and the challenges of planning for change in a fragmented landscape.
  10. International Policy and Law
    This seminar, convened by Professor Bradbrook, will discuss the current state of the law and legal research that is taking place to give impetus to energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies and other climate-friendly solutions to the world community.
  11. International Economic Cooperation
    This session will be convened by Professor Christopher Findlay and will discuss the benefits of international cooperation for the development of global markets.
