  1. Choose to make a disclosure or complaint
  • If disclosure – direct action not usually taken. De-identified information used to plan training and prevention activities.
  • If Complaint – moves to stage 2, assessment, where the Integrity Unit undertakes an assessment to consider appropriate action and which area will manage that process.
  1. Assessment stage – respondent is a staff member
  • Where the respondent is a staff member, the Enterprise Agreement governs processes from this point
  • The Enterprise Agreement processes mirror those in this flowchart, with an assessment leading to 3 main outcomes:
    1. Facilitated resolution
    2. Investigation
    3. Precautionary measures
  1. Assessment stage – respondent is not a staff member. There are three pathways following assessment:
  1. Facilitated resolution
    • Agreed resolution – matter closed
    • Resolution not achieved – if a resolution is nor reached, the matter will be reassessed to consider whether investigation is warranted
  2. Investigation
    • Allegations not substantiated – matter closed
    • Allegations substantiated – progressed to disciplinary action. Where the respondent is a student, the Student Misconduct Framework then governs this process
  3. Precautionary measures – these are temporary measures, such as prohibiting a person from speaking to or approaching another person, put in place while a complaint is addressed to minimise the risk of harm. These can also be put in place whilst an investigation is being undertaken.
