2008 Mid-year Orientation

Welcome to life on campus!

Make the Welcome Centre your starting point for Mid-Year Orientation where you can hear information talks about our student services and meet your fellow students. Enjoy a cup of hot soup during your visit!

Mid-Year Orientation
Monday 28 July – Friday 1 August

The Welcome Centre

Monday 28 July 11.30-2.30pm

All students commencing their studies in Semester 2 are invited to visit the Welcome Centre to gain important information about academic and support services, meet other new students and talk to staff and later year students about life at uni.

Join us for a FREE cup of hot, delicious soup and take the opportunity to:

  • attend an information session introducing you to the services available to help you succeed in your studies
  • sign up for a campus tour
  • talk to staff and students about university life and pick up some information brochures.

Tuesday 29 July to Friday 1 August

The Adelaide University Union has a week of activities planned for ‘Re-Orientation’ including:

  • free breakfast on Tuesday and Wednesday
  • ‘Globalicious’ international food event on Tuesday
  • inter-Faculty sports competition on Wednesday
  • free barbecue lunch on Wednesday and Thursday.

Other events will include live bands on the lawns, sports and clubs demonstrations, debating, a quiz night and much more. Visit the AUU website for further details as they become available.

Take a library tour

Monday 28 July to Friday 1 August
Sessions will be held at 11:10am and 2:10pm and are 50 minutes duration. Bookings are not required but session size is limited to 15 students on a 'first come, first served' basis. Sessions include:

  • an introduction to the Library website and catalogue
  • a tour of the physical building to familiarise students with the main features of its layout.

Attend an IT/MyUni information session

Friday 1 August
Sessions will be held at 1:00pm, 2:00pm and 3:00pm
Napier 107 Computer Lab

This short hands-on session will show you the fundamentals you need to access the computing facilities on offer. Information Technology Systems (ITS) staff will ensure you can sign on to the network and use the essential systems you will need in your studies.

Attend your School/Faculty information sessions

Refer to your School or Faculty for details of sessions being held.

Academic Skills Seminars

Attend some of the seminars offered by the Centre for Learning and Professional Development (CLPD).

Workshops

Check out the workshops and sessions offered by the Counselling Service (e.g. yoga, meditation, stress management).
