Our vision

Our vision is to lead in civil engineering and construction management, fostering innovation, sustainability, and leadership, and equipping graduates to deliver impactful, resilient, and future-ready infrastructure worldwide.

The School of Civil Engineering and Construction Management is focussed on building future innovators and leaders, ready to solve complex problems and lead sustainable infrastructure and technology advancements.  

With our team of world-class researchers and highly experienced industry leaders, we equip engineering and construction management students with hands-on experience, industry connections, and expertise in sustainable, ethical, and innovative practices, preparing them to lead complex infrastructure projects confidently. 

By linking research and education, we prepare construction managers and civil engineers to transform knowledge into meaningful societal and economic impact. We aim to strengthen the connection between our research and local economic needs, using creativity and technical expertise to generate opportunities.

School of Civil Engineering and Construction Management governance

The School of Civil Engineering and Construction Management is led by the Dean of School and supported by a dedicated School Executive Team that guides the school’s strategic, academic, and operational directions. The Executive Team includes the Dean, School Manager, and a group of Academic Leads who provide leadership across key portfolios in Research and Higher Degrees, Academic Programs, Student Experience and Success, and International and External Engagement as well as team leadership across the disciplines.

Beyond the Executive Team, a wider governance network supports the school’s day-to-day activities and long-term development. Program Directors, Academic and Research Integrity Officers, and the Postgraduate Coordinator play central roles in maintaining academic standards, research integrity, and student development. Additional roles such as Outreach and Engagement Coordinators, Lab Users Forum Coordinators contribute to building an inclusive and well-connected academic community.

The school’s governance structure reflects a strong commitment to inclusive leadership, transparency, and continuous improvement, ensuring that every member of the school community contributes to a vibrant and forward-looking environment.
