Art & Heritage Collections
It is customary that gifts are exchanged whenever delegates from the University of Adelaide, such as the Vice-Chancellor, visit interstate and overseas universities and organisations. Gifts are also exchanged when people from overseas or interstate visit the University. Since 2005, the University's Art & Heritage Collections has been cataloguing the gifts received by the University so that they will provide a record for future generations. So far, more than 300 objects have been lodged with Art & Heritage Collections, largely from the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President, and the office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (International). The gifts range from decorative items, such as vases and wall hangings, to personal effects, like brooches and tiepins, to office equipment, such as business card holders, paperweights and letter openers.
