A decade of support
Alumni The University of Adelaide recently recognised a special group of donors who have generously given to the annual Barr Smith Library Appeal every year since its inception in 2002. Hosted last month in the Library's iconic Reading Room, 50 alumni and friends of the University enjoyed a cocktail event featuring entertainment by students from the Elder Conservatorium of Music and a display of books from the University's Special Collections. The Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor James McWha, and University Librarian Ray Choate spoke on how the donors' valuable contributions ensure the Library can continue to cater to an ever-growing University community for generations to come. As a thank you gift to show the University's appreciation for their decade of valued support, guests received a commemorative letter opener etched with the historic Barr Smith Library facade on the handle. A unique publication featuring the memories and favourite books of donors who attended the event is now being arranged by the Library.
