06 Aug Helen Connolly was appointed South Australia’s inaugural Commissioner for Children and Young People in 2017. She works to ensure children feel safe, included and protected, and have opportunities to participate in their community while feeling hopeful about their future. 06 Aug Data scientist alum Tobin South is currently a PhD candidate at MIT on a Fulbright Future Scholarship at the MIT Media Lab. He researches cutting edge security tech for frontier Artificial Intelligence systems and works with some of the largest tech companies on understanding security and privacy for the future of AI. 10 Jul Ida Adora Ismail is the youngest female CEO in Malaysia’s aviation history. Her company, Systematic Aviation Services (SAS), was founded by her late father Ismail Asha'ari in 1992. She stepped up to the leadership in early 2020, at just 27 years old. 09 Jul John McNeil AO is a public health researcher whose contributions to medical research have resulted in some 600 publications and more than 43,000 citations, secured more than $150 million in competitive funding and have changed the landscape of research into chronic disease, preventive health, and healthcare quality. An exemplary leader, teacher and researcher, John was awarded a Distinguished Professorship from Monash University in 2017 and a Distinguished Alumni Award by the University of Adelaide in 2022.

University of Adelaide 150th celebrations
