The Milton Sims Visiting Professor Program (CPD) 2025

The Milton Sims Visiting Professor Program (CPD Session) is one of the University's key initiatives and a significant event on the Orthodontic calendar. It is supported by the Paul Kwok Lee Bequest and the Adelaide Orthodontic Alumni Network. 

This year we welcome Professor Carlos Flores-Mir as the Milton Sims Visiting Professor. Professor Flores-Mir will deliver the Paul Lee Lecture and will speak on a variety of orthodontic topics at the Milton Sims Visiting Professor Day.

Professor Carlos Flores-Mir

Carlos is a tenured Professor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. He is also involved in extramural practice as an Associate Orthodontist in Edmonton. Since March 2020 he has been Senior Director, Graduate Studies, School of Dentistry, at the University of Alberta. He has also been Graduate Orthodontic Program Director at the University of Alberta since July 2010. Carlos is currently Associate Editor with the Angle Orthodontist and Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research journals.

He received his DDS and Certificate in Orthodontics in Peru in 1994 and 1998 respectively. He is also the recipient of BSc, MSc and DSc degrees in stomatology from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Peru and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Orthodontics from the University of Alberta.

He is the co-editor of one book (MARPE: Expanding the limits of orthodontics) and authored 11 book chapters related to evidence-based Dentistry. He has authored 479 reviewed articles and commentaries/editorials and has delivered 192 international presentations around the topics of Clinical Orthodontics, Evidence-based Dentistry and Evidence-based Orthodontics.
