Margaret Gayen

Competing in the 2014 Commonwealth Games during the third year of her university degree was a defining moment for Margaret Gayen (Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical and Sports) (Honours), 2015). Margaret began her engineering career at Ellex Medical in 2016 designing and building medical laser systems for treating eye diseases.

Miss India Australia 2022

Muskan Jangra

2022 was a significant year for alumna Muskan Jangra. It was the year she completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and was crowned Miss India Australia 2022. Muskan also began her medical career as a doctor at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2022.

James Brown

James Brown graduated from the Elder Conservatorium with a B Mus (Hons) in 2003 followed by a Masters majoring in Music Performance in 2007. He describes his time at University of Adelaide as part of his musical journey where he learned lots of life lessons and enjoyed connecting with other creative people. As he says, “Hanging out with a bunch of other like-minded musicians on a daily basis was deeply beneficial, and the University certainly provided that.”

South Australia Woman of the Year 2023 winner and recipient of the James McWha Rising Star Award 2022, Professor Phiala Shanahan has made a significant contribution to physics, as the youngest Professor of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at the age of 27. She has become a leader in theoretical physics and is a passionate educator.
