Enhancing the value of Australian copper resources.
Hub researchers are developed and tested new, cost-effective ways to remove non-target metals from copper concentrates from ores in South Australia and beyond.
The Hub was funded by the Australian Research Council, BHP Billiton, OZ Minerals and the Department of State Development from 2015 to 2020.

Copper matters
The value of Australia's exports of copper concentrates and refined copper was $8.1 billion in 2012 (Australian Mines Atlas).
Australia has the world's 2nd largest economic resources of copper (13%) after Chile (28%) and ahead of Peru (11%), USA (6%) and Mexico (6%).
Yet as a producer, Australia ranks 5th (US Geological Survey). The Hub could significantly improve this ranking.
