  • Biography/ Background

Avneet Oberoi, PhD is a morivated research professional with 10 years of experience in all aspects of clinical trial coordination, project management, and participant relationship in the research industry. Demonstrated working knowledge of ICH-GCP, first aid, and CPR, cannulation, data entry, protocol, and monitory guidelines, standard operating procedures, company history of working in the research industry. Experienced in multiple study areas- sports nutrition (psychophysiology), female infertility, childhood obesity, Vitamin D and insulin resistance, PCOD, type 2 diabetes, and bariatric surgery. She is passionate about working to drive better life outcomes for people around the world and doing research that creates impact and is meaningful.

A major focus of her research relates to the effects of nutrients, particularly protein and glucose, on appetite regulation, blood glucose and insulin and underlying gastrointestinal mechanisms in the elderly especially with type 2 diabetes. She postulates that various inter-related gut mechanisms underpin the regulation of energy intake by nutrient ingestion, and that these will be disordered in older people, particularly those who are malnourished (obese or undernourished).

Currently, she is working on a project to determine the impact of age and the presence or absence of type 2 diabetes on the acute effects of whey protein and glucose intake, alone or combined, on blood glucose, plasma insulin concentrations and underlying gut mechanisms including gastric emptying and gut hormones in younger and older type 2 diabetes patients with the aim to develop effective and evidence based treatments that can then be delivered to older people in a variety of settings to provide the maximum benefit for health and quality of life (15 National and International presentations and 15 publications).

Outside this, she loves hiking and interacting with people, learning guitar and piano, and singing in her spare time. Through these extracurricular endeavors, she has developed a strong capacity for problem-solving and collaboration. She is committed to bettering herself personally and professionally, taking inspiration from a variety of disciplines to inform her actions as she strives to help others.
