Biography/ Background
I have been at the University of Adelaide for eleven years in business development, grant development and grant management. I have worked closely with researchers and industry in hydrogen, geophysics, electrification, mining, geology and geothermal energy. Much of my input has been to use my technical understanding of a range of technologies and apply the knowledge strategically, assisting both industry and University academics to work together to generate multidisciplinary and complex projects.
I assist researchers to take technical concepts and strategically apply and develop them to be relevant and useful to industry sectors such as mining and renewable energy. I also place great value in my five years as a school teacher. This role, the hardest I have ever done, involved inspiring and managing many small groups of people, and being their mentor and supporter through their growth and development.
My PhD training is in geology and geothermal energy, while my undergraduate included geology and chemistry. I have industry experience in mining, exploration, environment, education, energy technology, science communications, renewable energy and research and business management at university.
Having been the co-founder and founding CEO of ASX-listed Torrens Energy Ltd from 2006-2008, I have experience as a senior executive in the energy sector. During 2007-09 I co-developed a technique for measuring and modelling non-volcanic geothermal resources, and applied it to successfully discover and define the first inferred geothermal resource in Australia.
