The Mining Consortium wrapped up in August 2024: Researchers reflect on their experience and achievements
The PRIF Mining Consortium, funded by the South Australian Premier’s Research and Industry Fund, concluded in August 2024.
This collaborative effort, involving two universities (UoA and UniSA), 17 METS partners and 2 mining companies, focusing on improving copper recovery, throughput, and production while emphasising safety, sustainability, and reduced water and energy use.
Originally addressing challenges from BHP and OZ Minerals, the Consortium Program was extended to 2024 to help in the commercialisation of its findings. Key partners such as Maptek, Eka, and Magotteaux provided essential support with software, mentoring, and data.
