The JM Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice is pleased to present a masterclass with Dr Christina Thompson, award-winning author and editor of the Harvard Review.
Masterclass in Writing a Nonfiction Book
This class will cover some of the more important aspects of writing book-length nonfiction, including establishing a persuasive authorial persona, finding the right structure for your topic, thinking about the audience, understanding the publishing process, and how to write a professional book proposal. All welcome.
Dr Christina Thompson is the editor of Harvard Review and the author of Sea People: The Puzzle of Polynesia (2019), winner of the 2020 Prime Minister's Literary Award for Nonfiction, and a memoir, Come on Shore and We Will Kill and Eat You All (2008). She is currently a Creative Arts Fellow at the National Library of Australia. Christina is a former editor of Meanjin.
