Discover the world of art and the important role it plays in representing and interpreting history. As an art history and visual culture student at The University of Adelaide, you will study works of art from Renaissance paintings and sculpture, to contemporary street art and film. Discover how images can form beliefs and values, creating social commentary on ethnicity, gender and class. You will study unique courses respected for their cultural and social relevance in the modern art world.

As an art history and visual culture student you will:

• Analyse and interpret past and present images and objects
• Study principal methods of art from the Italian Renaissance, Northern Renaissance and contemporary art
• Develop specialist research, writing and communication skills
• Learn to use and apply necessary digital technologies
• Curate online exhibitions of old and new media works of art
• Have exclusive access to collections at the Art Gallery of South Australia.

As an art history and visual cultures student you will benefit from the expertise of our teaching staff, who are active researchers and art historians. You will also have the opportunity to attend guest seminars by professional curators at the Art Gallery of South Australia, the South Australian Museum and the Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute.
