Statistics
Statistics involves the collection and analysis of data—ranging from the simple to the highly complex—to enable evidence-based problem-solving and decision-making throughout society.
In our Statistics major you’ll focus on the creation, collection, modelling and analysis of data to draw conclusions, inform decision-making, solve problems and direct business or organisational development.
Statistics is highly-applicable to a vast range of industries and careers. You could use your statistical knowledge to: help improve health care; forecast the weather; analyse market research; or predict the behaviour of financial markets. You could apply your skills as a: data analyst, data scientist, biostatistician, actuary, economist or epidemiologist.
If you’re interested in broadening your mathematical expertise, you can combine your major in Statistics with a major in Applied Mathematics or Pure Mathematics. Please see the academic program rules for your desired degree to check availability.
