The University of Adelaide joins National Volunteer Week celebrations as it thanks more than 2000 volunteers for their ongoing support.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of National Volunteer Week (12-18 May) and this year's Volunteering Australia campaign is about uniting volunteers all over Australia and celebrating their power and diversity.

University of Adelaide's Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Warren Bebbington says regardless of the contribution all volunteers are vital to the University.

"Our volunteers are highly valued and I sincerely thank them all," says Professor Bebbington.

"Each volunteer brings with them a unique set of skills and experiences and together, they contribute to the great diversity and success of the University of Adelaide."

Professor Bebbington says the University of Adelaide has a wide range of volunteering opportunities including options for those looking to develop new skills.

"We offer opportunities with the Barr Smith Library, Radio Adelaide, International Student Centre, Theatre Guild and many more. Our volunteers not only gain satisfaction in supporting the University but also learn new skills, spark new interests and make new friends," says Professor Bebbington.

The University of Adelaide is hosting a volunteer recognition event in Bonython Hall on Friday 23 May and all volunteers are invited to attend.
