In Their Element is a collection of inspiring stories from Science grads who’ve turned their innate spark of curiosity into awesome, real-world careers. Hosted by Sarah Davidson, each episode will explore the paths each graduate took to get to where they are today.
The first three episodes include conversations with:
PIP EDWARDS: Walk on the guide side
Puppy Education Supervisor at the Royal Society for the Blind and Bachelor of Science (Animal Science) graduate Pip talks about the unbelievable cuteness of three-week-old puppies, the superpowers of a dog’s nose and why she chose to work with animals, plus she gives plenty of insight into her time studying at Roseworthy.
PHOEBE DE WILT: The sky’s the limit
Aviation Forecaster for the Bureau of Meteorology and Bachelor of Science (Space Science and Astrophysics) graduate
Phoebe discusses why she thinks we are all scientists, why she is happy to have let go of her childhood dream of travelling to space and what she loved about her degree. She also gives us an insight into the day-to-day activities of her job.
MILLIE SHINKFIELD: Food (science), glorious food (science)
Quality Assurance Assistant at Mexex Food Production and Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Science graduate
Millie covers the versatility of the humble potato (including its use in ice cream!), being a die-hard foodie and what inspired her to focus on food waste for her Honours project. She discusses what she liked about studying food and nutrition science at Waite too.
Upcoming guests include Jacob Maher who works in environmental sustainability, Brendan and Laura Carter, the husband and wife team behind Unico Zelo and Applewood Distillery and Reuben Jacob, Innovation Manager at Bellberry.
