2021 Highlands Public Lecture: Australis OSCAR 5

Satellite in space

Kathleen Lumley College's Highlands Public Lecture Series returns in 2021, with the first event featuring keynote speaker Dr Owen Mace.

What does a space cadet do during his Electrical Engineering degree? Build the first satellite in Australia of course. With other students and the encouragement of his Professor, “you will learn more from that than a year at the Uni”.

He was right.

Dr Owen Mace followed his undergraduate degree with a PhD in Physics, and soon after gained experience working at Ericsson's Research Labs (first all-digital telephone system) and British Aerospace Australia where he travelled the world looking at R&D projects. Following this, he joined an Australian IT company to launch their defence and space business. He then took a break to play with aeroplanes, electronics and software — what more could a fella want?

Join us to hear more about Dr Owen Mace and his career journey. Registrations close Monday 22 March.
