Our two guest speakers for the evening are:
Carly Bussenschutt
Carly graduated with a passion for agronomy and getting out there working closely with growers. After five years working as a sales and research agronomist for YPAG in Kadina, she moved back to manage the family farm on Kangaroo Island.
Carly managed the operations of the 2000ha grazing property with the opportunity to complete a Nuffield Scholarship in 2013. 2016 saw the creation Stowaway Kangaroo Island, two luxury couples retreats, an attempt to create a business that could combine being a mum with a fulfilling career, which to date it has (mostly!) succeeded in doing. Carly also enjoys being involved on her husband Adam’s 450ha sheep grazing operation with children Edward, 8, and Olivia, 6, (usually willingly) in tow.
Kate Masters
Kate completed the Bachelor in Natural Resource Management at Roseworthy in 2005. She was a late starter to university having spent a few years at the 'university of life' first. During university Kate was part of the dairy cattle show team and worked as a harvest hand which lead to a casual job at the piggery.
Kate's first real world natural resource management job was as a Landcare project officer in Mount Isa NW Qld with Southern Gulf NRM. She then moved to Townsville as the land and soils program coordinator with NQ Dry Tropics and then ended up back in Mount Isa as the Program Manager at Southern Gulf NRM. Kate then commenced as a Mine Site Environmental Advisor at Mount Isa Mines and became the Site Operations Superintendent covering the full breadth of environmental functions. In the last six years she bought a small beef cattle trading farm in NSW and started working with the NSW government on water policy management.
We hope you can join us for a wonderful evening catching up with old friends, professors and mentors.
