A date with obituary writer Tim Bullamore

A Friends of the Library shared event with the Friends of the State Library SA

Have you ever wondered who gets an obituary in the press? Why they are chosen? How they are written? What the writer is looking for? Where the material comes from? And which ones are written in advance?

International visiting speaker from the UK, Tim Bullamore, has been writing obituaries for leading newspapers for almost 30 years. He has written obituaries of the good and the bad, the rich and famous, the quirky and unusual, as well as household names, royalty, celebrities, and establishment figures - including a number of Australians.

This entertaining talk reveals some insights into the art of obituary writing and provides memorable anecdotes from the dead centre of the newspaper.
