Women in Medicine (a Fiona Stanley Hospital Event)

Join University of Adelaide medicine alumna Dr Vidisha Vaidya for a panel discussion featuring trailblazing women in medicine, who have and continue to overcome barriers and strive for excellence in clinical practice, medical education and leadership.

  • Professor Jane Courtney, Associate Clinical Dean & Discipline Leader (Medicine and Geriatrics) at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Consultant Geriatrician (Hollywood Private Hospital), medical graduate from The University of Western Australia.
  • Professor Alison Jones, WA Acting Chief Medical Officer & Director of Medical Education (FSH), Physician (General Medicine); previously Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Health & Communities) and Executive Dean at the University of Wollongong.  Medical graduate from The University of Edinburgh.
  • Emeritus Professor Anne Tonkin, Chair of the Medical Board of Australia, Physician and Clinical Pharmacologist (Royal Adelaide Hospital), previous Director of the Medicine Learning and Teaching Unit at the University of Adelaide. Medical graduate from Flinders University.
  • Winthrop Professor Fiona Wood AM, WA Director of the Burns Service, University of Western Australia Director of the Brain Injury Research Unit, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon (Fiona Stanley Hospital), 2005 Australian of the Year, Australian National Living Treasure. Medical graduate from St. Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, London.
