Living Sustainable: Food Festival

As part of the Living Sustainable event series, we are excited to announce the return of our annual event: the Food Festival! This year, the Adelaide Sustainability Association is collaborating with the Adelaide University Vegan Club to bring you a variety of yummy foods from local businesses which focus on sustainable practices in the food industry.

Face to Face: Embracing Portraiture

A rare opportunity to see highlights of the University’s portrait collection, "Face to Face" presents artworks by acclaimed Australian artists. As the centrepiece, a new portrait depicting Kaurna Elder, Uncle Rodney O’Brien, will be displayed for the first time. The exhibition also includes researcher stories about the human face.

Friends of the Library Discovery event - Jennifer Cockburn - A rich paper trail: researching and writing the biography of Stewart Cockburn

The biography by his daughter of Stewart Cockburn (1921-2009), well-known Adelaide author and national Walkley Award-winning investigative journalist, is based on extensive research using his papers held in the Barr Smith Library and the papers of Sir Mark Oliphant - whose award-winning biography Cockburn wrote with David Ellyard.
The Lowitja O'Donoghue Oration

JMCCCP Presents Bedtime Stories: Writers on writing about the biggest subject of them all

When writer Chloe Hooper’s partner was diagnosed with an aggressive illness, she needed to tell her young sons. In Bedtime Story, she asks whether such news can be broken as a bedtime tale. In his memoir-in-progress, The Cancer Finishing School, writer and doctor Peter Goldsworthy considers his own cancer diagnosis through stories from patients who had been there first. Heather Taylor Johnson guides a conversation with Hooper and Goldsworthy about the biggest subject of them all.
