Health Equity Reading Group

The Health Equity Reading Group aims to promote discussion and debate within the University of Adelaide on a broad range of topic areas, with a particular focus on health, equity, wellbeing, and public policy. The group meets every two months via Zoom.

Group members are invited to critically consider the determinants of health, equity, and wellbeing in an historical context, including determinants such as climate change and the environment, housing, employment and working conditions, and commercial and political determinants. Two guest speakers will each present a paper or report for 20 minutes, with ten minutes each for discussion.

Our guest speakers for the first reading group meeting are Associate Professor Carmel Williams, co-Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Health in All Policies, and Dr Matt Fisher from Stretton Health Equity. Carmel will be discussing a paper about implementation of Health in All Policies in Finland and Matt will be discussing a paper on the theory of wellbeing.
