Emerging synthesis methods, such as scoping reviews, mapping reviews, and evidence and gap maps, have been proposed as alternative approaches to synthesis and have now become popular fixtures within the research ecosystem. These 'big picture' reviews complement systematic reviews by addressing open-framed research questions that hold value for decision-makers and researchers.
The exponential growth in the application of 'big picture' review approaches across all fields has brought to light critical issues concerning the methodological approaches and reporting of these projects. However, distinguishing between each 'big picture' review and determining the appropriate usage for each can pose a challenge.
In this webinar we will describe each big picture review, explain their respective roles, and discuss the process of selecting the most suitable evidence synthesis method to answer your specific question.
