Musical Fusion - East meets West

Music in the Reading Room with Friends of the Library

Chinese Orchestra

Brought to you by Thomas Cheung, Elder Conservatorium Student Intern with the Friends

Join a celebration of cultural diversity through music and experience the power of music to transcend boundaries and unite people.

Immerse yourself in the awesome acoustics of the recently renovated heritage Barr Smith Library Reading Room with the sounds of historic Baroque instruments and Chinese instruments - discover the Guzheng, the Zhongruan, the Erhu, and Baroque Lute.

This will be a unique musical experience of contrasting repertoires from Baroque composers - Telemann, Pieter Hellendaal and Charles Avison performed by the Elder Conservatorium Baroque Ensemble, and Chinese pieces performed by the Fenghua Guzheng Ensemble, and the Elder Conservatorium Chinese Orchestra.
