Weaving Indigenous Knowledges Workshop

The Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER) and the Adaptation, Community, Environment (ACE) Research Group invite you to join us in an engaging workshop on “Weaving Indigenous Knowledges” by Ann Marie Chischilly at the University of Adelaide.

This workshop will provide an overview of Indigenous Knowledges (IK) and demonstrate examples of weaving IK with regard to climate change and environmental management efforts in the United States.  This activity-based workshop will allow you to navigate diverse aspects of knowledge politics in relation to climate adaptation. 

In this in-person workshop, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and network with people interested in climate change.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

About Ann Marie Chischilly

Ann Marie Chischilly serves as Vice President of the Office of Native American Initiatives (ONAI) at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff, Arizona. Before Ms. Chischilly’s VP role, she was NAU’s Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals’ (ITEP) director for eleven years.  For over 30 years, ITEP has served over 95% of all 574 Tribal nations in environmental professional development. 

She earned her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from St. Mary's University School of Law and a Masters in Environmental Law (LL.M.) from Vermont Law School. She is licensed in Arizona and has practiced in state, district, and federal courts. Ms. Chischilly speaks both nationally and internationally on topics of Indigenous Traditional Ecological Knowledges (ITEK), Indian Law, Environmental Law and Justice, Climate Change, Water Law and Tribes/Indigenous Peoples. Her latest co-authored book is Old Ways for New Days-Indigenous Survival and Agency in Climate Changed Times (Springer).
