Free public lecture: Mental health of young Australians
Who has responsibility for the mental health of young Australians?
That’s the question being posed at a free public online lecture by one of Australia’s leading experts in the field of child and adolescent mental health.
Emeritus Professor Michael Sawyer (Adelaide School of Medicine, University of Adelaide) will deliver the 16th annual Healthy Development Adelaide (HDA) Oration.
His oration will describe what we know about the prevalence and nature of mental health problems experienced by young Australians during the last 20 years. It will also discuss several population-level interventions that have attempted to reduce the prevalence of mental health problems experienced by children and adolescents in Australia.
Professor Sawyer will consider who has ultimate responsibility for helping the many children and adolescents in Australia who are currently experiencing mental health problems.
