The University of Adelaide has climbed in one of the world’s most prestigious university rankings.

The latest Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) has seen the University of Adelaide jump by 19 places to be ranked 133 in the world.

The University of Adelaide continues to be placed in the top 1% of universities globally, and is firmly placed as the number 1 university in South Australia and among the best in Australia.

This latest global ranking also follows the announcement earlier this year that 16 of the University’s research fields are now in the top 100 in the world, according to ARWU.

“Consistently, the various global university rankings are showing that the University of Adelaide continues to have a strong reputation for world-class expertise,” says Professor Anton Middelberg, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).

“We’ve seen important boosts in our research strengths in recent years, which underpin key sectors of critical importance to the State’s future – including future-facing industries.

“This represents added value to our undergraduate students, who are learning from some of the best minds in their fields.

“We are very pleased by these latest rankings, and what they represent for future opportunities for South Australia and our nation,” Professor Middelberg says.
