The University of Adelaide’s offering of a high-quality, world-class degree program via Open Universities Australia is a real win for students across the country.

Open Universities Australia is today celebrating the arrival of one of Australia’s leading universities to the marketplace, with the first University of Adelaide degree program now open for enrolments.

The University of Adelaide, a cornerstone Australian Group of Eight (Go8) university, is now offering a Bachelor of International Business through Open Universities Australia (OUA).

This degree program builds on the University of Adelaide’s success with OUA, which has offered 25 of the University’s executive short courses via the marketplace since April 2020.

“We see a desire from students not only to study through a world-class institution, but to incorporate their studies into everyday life – around work commitments, geographic locations, or even through less traditional pathways into study,''Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Jennie Shaw

According to Head of Partnerships at OUA, David Cummings, the University of Adelaide’s offering of a high-quality, world-class degree program is a real win for students across the country.

“The University of Adelaide’s arrival onto the OUA marketplace signifies a growing interest from leading universities to take courses online and meet students where they are.

“The introduction of the Bachelor of International Business from the University of Adelaide is a significant offering for students, who, via the OUA marketplace, can now study with a Group of Eight university, from anywhere across the country.

“OUA’s Open Access product enables students to enrol in a Bachelor degree via non-traditional pathways and still achieve qualifications from a leading institution. This will be a first for this particular Group of Eight university, which is very exciting for us,” adds Cummings.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the University of Adelaide, Professor Jennie Shaw, says the move online and via a proven marketplace is part of the University’s strategic vision of growth, making its educational programs accessible to a wider diversity of students, irrespective of their location.

“The University of Adelaide’s traditional student cohort are those seeking a high-quality education from a leading, sandstone university, with a real ‘campus life’ experience. While that won’t change for most of our students, we recognise there’s a wider demand for a prestigious University of Adelaide education,” Professor Shaw says.

“Prior to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University established a strategic vision to provide our education to a growing community of learners from a greater diversity of backgrounds and needs. This vision included pathways to high-quality online study. The events of the last couple of years have accelerated that need to diversify and create opportunities for study in an online learning environment.

“We see a desire from students not only to study through a world-class institution, but to incorporate their studies into everyday life – around work commitments, geographic locations, or even through less traditional pathways into study. Introducing a series of our Bachelor degrees on the OUA marketplace is a great way to start addressing these demands,” says Professor Shaw.

The University of Adelaide will expand its offerings in the undergraduate space to come into the marketplace in 2022. Further details about other programs will be announced in 2022.

The Bachelor of International Business is open for enrolments now, with studies beginning in Trimester 1, 2022. More information on the Bachelor of International Business can be found here.
