Adelaide Business School appoints new MBA Director
The University of Adelaide’s Adelaide Business School has appointed a new MBA Director, Associate Professor Gary Bowman.
Associate Professor Bowman is exceptionally well credentialed and has a wealth of professional, academic, and international experience, particularly in the fields of strategy and risk.
“I’m delighted to be a part of such a prestigious MBA program and be able to help so many driven individuals take their careers to the next level. The city of Adelaide is probably one of the most exciting places to be in Australia right now. To be able to complete South Australia’s number one MBA program in such a hub of opportunity is going to be a springboard to success for all our students,” said Associate Professor Bowman.
Prior to joining the University of Adelaide, Gary was at Bond University on the Gold Coast where he was MBA Director and Associate Professor of Global Strategy. He also led Bond Business School’s research team on governance, accountability and purpose.
“Gary’s wealth of experience makes him the perfect person to guide students through the joys and complexities of the future business landscape. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”Professor Noel Lindsay
Gary has extensive private and public sector experience, working on consulting and research projects for multinational enterprises (MNEs) across multiple industries and at various levels of government. He is an award-winning lecturer and has had his risk and strategy research published in world leading journals. His most recent work examines the impact of natural disasters on the governance and strategic decisions of MNEs, a poignant topic within the country at present.
Gary has an MA (Hons) and PhD in strategic management from the University of St Andrews, Scotland, specialising in scenario analysis and the application of scenarios to long-term strategic planning. His postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge, where he was the Cambridge-Singapore Risk Fellow, focused on the socio-economic impact of catastrophic events.
Dean of Business, Professor Noel Lindsay says: “Our MBA program is ranked Tier One globally. It was vital we found a Director who values the importance of this position and who could add even further expertise to our program. It is essential that our MBA students are equipped to deal with complex problems in a systemic, integrated and collaborative fashion to enable them to become future leaders.
“Gary’s wealth of experience makes him the perfect person to guide students through the joys and complexities of the future business landscape. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”
