About me

A highly successful public relations consultant with more than 30 years' experience, now a bestselling novelist, and an online teacher with Adelaide University.

I'm the author of THE RUSH (Simon & Schuster 2023; HarperCollins France 2023; Crooked Lane Books in the US, 2024) and BARREN CAPE (Simon & Schuster 2025), and represented by Melanie Ostell Literary. In 2021, I was Runner-Up in the 2021 Furphy Literary Award. I’ve been shortlisted and longlisted in several other writing prizes (read more at michelleprak.com).

In 2019, I was elevated to Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA). I was President of PRIA SA for three years; an inaugural mentor of the Women in Media (SA) in 2015; named one of South Australia's 50 'Rising Stars' by The Advertiser in 2013.Formerly South Australia's leading social media consultant, I regularly appeared in state and national media to comment on social media issues.

I'm an experienced public speaker and PR trainer, having delivered speeches and training seminars around Australia and New Zealand. Nowadays I appear at many literary events, hosting panels, providing writing workshops or discussing my writing.
