Facilities & Precincts
Research facilities
The University has a wide range of cutting-edge research facilities and services available across our campuses for researchers, students, government and industry.
Research precincts
North Terrace
The North Terrace campus is the University's main campus, and is the site of many cutting-edge research facilities. These include an advanced Proteomics Facility, a high-performance supercomputer, the Regional Facility for Microscopy and Microanalysis, a Virtual Reality Centre and specialised laboratories that house the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing.
North Terrace is in the heart of the city, among several of our research partners, including the South Australian Museum, Adelaide Zoo, Art Gallery of South Australia, the Botanic Gardens, and the National Wine Centre, encouraging collaborative research.
SA health and biomedical precinct
Located at the west end of North Terrace, the South Australian Health and Biomedical Precinct is the state's highest priority project for health, research and education infrastructure.
The University's new Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences (AHMS) building is the biggest capital works project in the history of the University of Adelaide. The $246 million, 14-storey building houses state-of-the-art facilities for 1600 students and more than 400 researchers.
Co-located with the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) and South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), the facility will play a key role in transforming health education, research and patient care.
Waite research precinct
The Waite Research Precinct (located at our Waite Campus) has the largest concentration of expertise in the southern hemisphere in the areas of agriculture, food, wine, nutrition and natural resources science.
The 300 acre site is home to the University's Waite Research Institute, along with a collection of unique but highly connected research organisations and centres.
The precinct houses 1100 researchers and technical staff, along with 845 research and agricultural students, along with significant infrastructure, including the state of the art Plant Accelerator.
Roseworthy
Roseworthy campus is an internationally recognised centre for excellence in dry land agriculture, natural resource management and animal production. Its 1,600 hectare campus is situated 50kms north of Adelaide.
Campus partners include Technical and Further Education (TAFE) SA, Primary Industries and Resources South Australia (PIRSA) and the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI).
Roseworthy houses a Veterinary Health Centre which is open to the public, as part of the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences.
