Human Research Ethics Committee - call for voluntary committee members

The University of Adelaide Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) is calling for the following members: Researcher Representative, Indigenous Representative (proxy), Lawyer Representative (proxy), Pastoral Care Representative (proxy), and Professional Care Representative. Queries can be directed to Professor Chris Boyle, HREC Chair. Apply via the website before 30 August.

Student Travel Risk Policy and Student Health Assessment and Leave Policy

The Student Travel Risk Policy and the Student Health Assessment and Leave Policy have been approved to be reaffirmed until 31 December 2025, as both policies required only minor amendments, effective immediately. The change in delegation authority for approving student high risk travel to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (External Engagement) resulted in the revised policy being endorsed at the VCE 4/24-31 July 2024 meeting. The Vice-Chancellor and President approved the policy on 13 August 2024. The Student Health Assessment and Leave Policy only required editorial changes and as such, was approved by the Policy Custodian, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic) on 31 July 2024.

2024 Measurement Awards

Professor Withawat Withayachumnankul and Dr Pei Lay Yap have each received 2024 Measurement Awards. Professor Withayachumnankul received the Barry Inglis Medal for his work supporting the development of terahertz communications and material characterisation applications. Dr Pei Lay Yap received the Measurement Achievement Encouragement Award for her work in the standardisation of graphene characterisation. Read more.

UniBar closure Friday 25 October due to alumni 150 celebration

UniBar will be closed to staff, students and the general public on Friday 25 October, until 8.30 pm, the last teaching day of Semester 2, due to an Alumni event. UniBar is a cherished and nostalgic venue, making its inclusion in the 150th celebrations essential as it has been an integral part of campus life for generations of students. This event will provide an opportunity for alumni to return to the iconic venue, reconnect with fellow graduates and reminisce about their time on campus.

Enhancing cyber security awareness

TEQSA has released the Enhancing Cyber Security Awareness training program. Its modules are self-directed and free. Staff are encouraged to enroll to improve awareness and capability to mitigate risk of cyber crime.

Free self-service health check machine

Check-in with your health. Visit Hub Central at North Terrace campus, Beltana Cafe at Waite campus and the student hub at Roseworthy campus throughout September to complete a 5-10 minute health check and have a report emailed to you. Includes lifestyle questions, perceived stress, blood pressure, height, weight, and diabetes risk.
