Immerse yourself in the world of captivating stories and profound intellectual exploration with the acclaimed writer Dr. Hossein Asgari. Join us for an engaging, thought-provoking and lively conversation as we dive into the mind behind the powerful narratives that have appeared in prestigious publications such as The Suburban Review, Overland, The Saltbush Review, and soon, Splinter. Dr. Asgari’s debut novel, Only Sound Remains, has already garnered widespread acclaim, making the shortlist for both the prestigious Miles Franklin Literary Award and the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards.

His unique ability to blend the scientific with the creative has earned him a well-deserved place in the literary spotlight.

With a background that spans dual doctorates, one in Plasma Physics and the other in Creative Writing from the J.M. Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice at the University of Adelaide—his diverse background offers a uniquely captivating lens through which he views storytelling.

Dr. Asgari brings a rare and fascinating perspective to his work. His transition from scientist to writer is a testament to his versatility and intellectual curiosity. Currently serving a postdoctoral researcher in creative writing, where he continues to push the boundaries of storytelling and innovation.

The evening will be expertly hosted by Annie Waters, Mostly Books, former co-director of the National Young Writers Festival, Annie’s insightful questions will guide us through an exploration of Hossein’s journey from lab to literature, his creative process, and the themes that shape his work.
