Leonie Spriggs
Bachelor of Agricultural Business, Class of 1994–96
Leonie Spriggs has always been passionate and driven to work within business and agriculture. While studying at Roseworthy, Leonie felt incredibly inspired because she was combining two areas she loved. Having grown up in the country, Roseworthy was a great choice as it offered the ability to study in a country area.
Not long after graduating Leonie started working in accounts receivable for a small lighting manufacturer that exported direct. She then moved into various other administration positions giving her a good grasp of how a whole business is bolted together. “This experience was invaluable in setting me up to move into management later on.”
Leonie has attended trade shows and worked in a customer service role including phone sales at the beginning of her career. After 2 years she studied Export Administration and moved into an “Export Administrator’s role” which she thoroughly enjoyed.
“I currently sit on the Board of Advisors, overseeing the group of companies of Lightforce, Nightforce and Paroo Pastoral Company. This involves overall governance and strategic direction of the group. I also have an operational role for Lightforce as IT & Security Project Manager. In this role I manage the IT and Security functions, implement improvement in our ERP system, manage security measures and ensure the business is providing reliable and functional IT.”
‘Spriggsy’, as Leonie was known in college, lived on a sheep and cattle station in NSW owned by her partner for 10 years. While she lived there she was able to use her passion for horses in a hands on role in mustering. She also assisted in the overall management of the staff and company.
What was Leonie’s fondest memory while studying at Roseworthy?
“There was a band playing at the campus bar and one night some students bought a calf into there as a funny prank!”
