About
The Centre of Light for Life is supported by the Institute of Photonics and Advanced Sensing and is a major research initiative of the School of Biological Sciences and Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology at the University of Adelaide. The centre has strong links with the Optical Manipulation Group from the University of St Andrews, Scotland.
Our technologies
The centre provides specialised light-based technologies such as light sheet microscopy, optical trapping, sensing (Raman spectroscopy) and digital holographic microscopy. Our technologies are rapidly expanding, with many actively used in current research projects across multiple disciplines.
Our space
The centre’s multidisciplinary nature spans a diversity of sciences, including physics, optics, reproductive biology, medicine, agriculture, and neurobiology. Our research has connections with industry, agriculture, and defence.
