Professor Olaf Maennel appointed Joint Chair in Cybersecurity

We’re excited to announce Professor Olaf Maennel has been appointed to the position of Defence Science and Technology Group - University of Adelaide Joint Chair in Cybersecurity.

“My intent as the Chair is to provide strategic leadership in cyber security,” Professor Maennel says. “The main focus will be joint research and development activities between DSTG and our University that explore potential and emerging disruptive technologies, development of undergraduate programs in cyber security, and development of Defence-focused postgraduate programs in cyber security.”

Professor Maennel started his career at the University of Adelaide as a post-doctoral researcher focused on computer networks and network security. He went on to hold faculty positions at Loughborough University in England and Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia before rejoining the University of Adelaide in February 2023.

We look forward to the innovative contributions Professor Maennel will bring to advancing cybersecurity education and research in this pivotal role.
