Bush Blitz initiative Launched
Environment Minister Peter Garrett launched Bush Blitz yesterday, a three year multimillion dollar partnership.
Bush Blitz was launched on 15 February at Darkwood Reserve in the New England National Park. Bush Blitz is a three year multimillion dollar partnership to document the plants and animals in properties across Australia's National Reserve System.
The program is led by the Australian Government and brings together global resources company BHP Billiton, not-for-profit conservation research organisation Earthwatch and rangelands survey group the National Scientific Reference Site Network.
The National Scientific Reference Site Network is a $3 million facility of the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network (TERN), which is coordinated by the University of Adelaide under the Directorship of Professor Andrew Lowe. The purpose of TERN is to establish the necessary cooperative and data frameworks for a national, collaborative approach to ecosystem infrastructure, research and systematic data collection.
