Supporting students, one sausage at a time
The humble sausage in bread is an Australian icon. On May 7th, the University of Adelaide joined together with Tasting Australia to bring to life the 'Festival of Sausage in Bread'.
Snags of all varieties were on show, from the Argentinian choripan to Germany’s bratwurst. Renowned chef Gus Love was on the BBQ, serving up gourmet sausages from around the world thanks to local suppliers including Ellis Butchers. For some saucy entertainment, there was a game of Sizzle Bingo to enjoy. On offer was a choice of prize, either a larger-than-life meat tray or veggie option, so it was game on – for better or for wurst. With attendees chipping in $5 a sausage, the inaugural Festival of Sausage in Bread raised over $7,000. Proceeds were split between the University’s Student Emergency Fund, student union and AU Sport, guaranteeing the festival had a great impact on students.
