Professor Graham 'Gus' Nathan
Director, Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER)
Professor G.J. 'Gus' Nathan is Fellow of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and of the Combustion Institute, an ARC Discovery Outstanding Researcher Awardee (Fellowship) and founding director of The University of Adelaide’s Centre for Energy Technology.
Elsevier and Stanford University have listed Prof. Nathan in the top 2% of scientists worldwide. He is the Research Director of the $215m Heavy Industry, Low-carbon Transition (HILT) Cooperative Research Centre, Node Leader in the Added Value program addressing solar fuels in the $82m Australian Solar Thermal Research Initiative, and led the $14m ARENA funded program in partnership with Alcoa and Hatch to develop technology that targeted 45% reduction in CO2 emissions from the Bayer Alumina process with solar thermal hybrids.
Prof. Nathan is also a founding chair of the High-Temperature Minerals Processing, HiTeMP Forum, co-founder of Hydrogen Production Technologies, HyPT Forum and joint founder of the International Workshop on the measurement and computation of reacting flows with carbon nanoparticles, the ISF Workshop.

Professor Melissa Nursey-Bray
Deputy Director, Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER)
Professor Nursey-Bray's current roles are:
- Professor and ARC Future Fellow, Human Geography in the School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics;
- Deputy Director, Institute of Sustainability, Energy and Resources; and
- Coordinator, FAME Sustainability StrategyAs a human geographer, Melissa's discipline is closely concerned with the relationship between people and place. In particular she has a track record of work in (i) Indigenous community governance and resilience, (ii) in community based climate adaptation and more recently, in (iii) urban ecologies.
Professor Nursey-Bray’s appointment as ISER's Deputy Director is of strategic importance for the University and has been established to oversee the FAME Sustainability Research Strategy for the University; to strategically position the Sustainability Experts and Course Portal; to foster transdisciplinary research related to sustainability; to generate research revenue; and to nurture key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Melissa is a member of the University Research Committee (URC) as the FAME Sustainability coordinator and represents ISER when appropriate.

Dr Ariane Gienger
Research Officer, Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER)
Dr Ariane Gienger is a research officer at the Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources and at the Department of Geography, Environment and Population.
Ariane has completed a PhD in Human Geography. Her research investigates the interconnection of ecological and political crises and their solutions, with a particular focus on the importance of knowledge diversity. She currently supports the implementation of the FAME Sustainability Research Strategy and is involved in research projects in the fields of community-based conservation, climate change adaptation and sustainability education.

Marilia Jean Belperio

Marilia is in her final year of University completing her Undergraduate Bachelor Degree of Media, with a Marketing Major. Her interests are within Marketing and Communications, ensuring key information is distributed to all academics and stakeholders.
The ISER Newsletter and Noticeboard was successfully launched by Marilia, delivering information and ISER updates to over 450 affiliates! She continues to support the ISER team through keeping up-to-date with academics and the important work they do for ISER, and changes in trends online.
