Masterclass in Fiction with Dr. Hossein Asgari
On Thursday the 26th of September we were proud to host a literary Masterclass in the Art of Fiction with celebrated novelist Dr. Hossein Asgari on campus at the University of Adelaide.
Hossein was a PhD student with the J. M. Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice, and his debut novel Only Sound Remains was recently shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Literary Award and the Victorian Premier's Literary Award for Fiction. Dr. Asgari's Masterclass focused on using real-life moments and memories that have left an impression on us, and urged us to explore and expand upon those moments to create fictional worlds. This Masterclass was a wonderful opportunity for writers of both fiction and nonfiction to consider their relationship to truth-telling and narrative, as well as a wonderful insight into Dr. Asgari's own creative practice and process. We thank Hossein for his generosity and time in preparing and delivering this fun and generative Masterclass.
