50 Years Proud: Queerness on Campus

Student marching in the 1975 Proud Parade, smiling and holding big signs

Proud Parade, 1973. Series 690, Special Collections.

Fifty years ago, the University of Adelaide’s students were prominent players in the fight for Gay Liberation.

This exhibition features student magazine, On Dit, providing a social and historical record of student life. Curated by the University of Adelaide Pride Club, the display examines the role students played in the advancement of queer rights at a time when homosexuality remained a criminal offence.
