The curator's collection continues in cabinet 10 where black and gold title blocking, silver stamping and recessed gilt medallions grace the covers of titles such as The Poetical Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, The Poetical Works of Jean Ingelow: Including the Shepherd Lady and Other Poems and Frederick B. Meyer's Moses: The Servant of God.

Lovell, Publisher. 1881 Brown publisher’s cloth over bevelled boards, exquisitely blocked with black scrolled borders and gold botanical designs. Embellished title block to spine, with gilt publisher’s banner on the spine’s tail. Author name blocked in relief on cover and surrounded further with stylised leaves. All edges gilt.

Undated but circa 1865 Beautifully bound in publisher’s red cloth, with black-tooled decorative cover border. Title blocked in gold banners, showcasing an angel in an enamel-like, recessed gilt, yellow and green centre medallion. Spine stamped with the round “Landsdowne Series of Poets” black and gold motif, as centred emblem, plus the title block, from which the author’s name appears in green relief. All edges gilt.

Undated but circa 1875 Publisher’s rich green cloth over bevelled boards, black embossed with scalloped borders and corner shield-like embellishments. Centre shield with the Gall & Inglis hallmark emblem stamped in gold and encapsulating the author’s name in relief. Title block to spine with further black-embossed designs and gilt head and tail detail.

Gold and black-stamped central illustration depicting a cherub-like angel with harp. Spine exquisitely stamped with black and gold geometric and floral designs, along with ornate title block. Author’s name, in relief, set into black and gilt decorative cover panel. All edges gilt.

Isbister Limited. 1883 Red cloth, pictorially illustrated, over bevelled boards. Title block to spine, plus gilt kangaroo taken from the contents of the book where it appears on page 109. Cover blocked with black ink border and leaves surrounding a centre gold-stamped illustration of a bullock-wagon in the Argentine republic. The image is a replica of that which appears on page 209. Book-binders ticket to rear paste-down reads: “Bound by Novello, Southwark”.

Oval shaped black and silver stamped illustration (probably created with aluminium foil) depicting Moses on Pisgah. The image is taken from the book’s contents where it appears again on page 185. All edges gilt.
