Biographical

Erica is a teacher and author who was a founding member of the SA Social Studies Teachers Association (contributing to its text books) and the SA History Teachers Association. Erica graduated from Adelaide University with honours in history, going on to teach and hold curriculum positions in secondary schools for nearly 40 years. She gained her Masters in English Literature from Flinders University in 1978, and over the years has been elected to Flinders' governing council and academic senate, helped establish and combine various faculties and schools, been an official university donor, and supported a student bursary for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Erica's published works include a history of vocational education in South Australia from 1897 - 2001, We Came to Marion 1955 - 1995 (1995), A Broader Vision: Voices of Vocational Education in SA (2001), Challenging the Divide: Approaches to Science and Poetry (2010), and Making a Stand (2015).

Erica Jolly is a long‐time member of the Australian Federation of Australian Women South Australia, now called The Australian Federation of Graduate Women, AFGW, or GWSA. The Australian Federation of University Women, founded in 1922, is the national umbrella organisation for state Federations of University Women in Australia. The AFUW lobbies the Federal Government on issues pertaining to women in academia. It also organises triennial conferences and awards several fellowships for post-graduate study. It has campaigned for equal pay and employment opportunities for female academics and against gender discrimination in education.
