How To: Arrange an MOU signing
MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) signings are commonly held at the University.
An MOU signing is usually a small official ceremony witnessed by key stakeholders of the MOU only, and should not take more than 15 minutes. A photo of the signing and a media release may be appropriate depending on the significance of the signing.
Important notes about an MOU signing
Any document being signed by a University representative and a third party will need to be reviewed and approved by Legal prior to the event.
Each signatory will sign each copy of the MOU and leave with a copy.
You will need to arrange signing kits, University-branded folders and University branded banners.
Signatories need to be positioned in front of the University crest where possible, with University banners visible in the background.
Logistics: How to host an MOU signing
- Book a room. If the Vice-Chancellor is participating in the signing, the Augustus Short room in the Mitchell Building is an appropriate venue.
- Book your internal and external guests, ensuring they have sufficient time in their diary.
- Arrange photography. Photographers are arranged through the University's creative partner, Richards Rose. You will need to write a photography brief and Richards Rose will then assist with arrangements.
- If any government representatives are involved, please advise the Government Relations team.
- You may also wish to alert the Media & Communications team.
- If appropriate, contact the Social Media team in Marketing to discuss promoting the signing on University social media channels, for example, LinkedIn.
