Celebrating International Women's Day with curated tours of the Botanical Gardens, followed by networking at the National Wine Centre.

International Women’s Day offers a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the University of Adelaide's women.

Partnering with Botanic Garden and State Herbarium, you are invited to join us for a series of fascinating walks through the stunning Botanic Garden, curated by Professor Michelle Waycott, Chief Botanist at the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium (BGSH) and H.B.S. Womersley Chair in Systematic Botany at the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Adelaide.

When: Tuesday 8 March 2022
Where: Ginkgo Gate, Adelaide Botanic Garden, accessed off Frome Street
Time: 1.45 pm for prompt 2.00 pm start

These curated walks will be followed by a networking function from 3.00 pm - 4.30 pm with guest speakers at the National Wine Centre for those who can join us.

Tickets are strictly limited, so get in quick to ensure you can attend the tour of your choice.

Tours are as follows:

  • Tour 1: Science, research and the preserved collections of BGSH
  • Tour 2: Creating new history
  • Tour 3: Cryptic cryptogams, fungi and lichens in our landscape
  • Tour 4: Our cultural and science collections, Santos Museum of Economic Botany and science engagement.
  • Tour 5: Conservation of threatened flora – seed orchards and how to grow our threatened plants
  • Tour 6: Plant resilience
